The time has come for us to move forward to practical commercial snail farming in Nigeria

Like other types of farming such as poultry, piggery, fish, grass cutters, cassava, cocoa, maize, etc, snail farming is a serious business with its own methods and peculiarities. While practitioners and the media have a role to play in highlighting the potentials inherent in snail farming in Nigeria to the general public, on-the-farm practical knowledge, followed by mentoring, are also parts of the vital solution. I strongly believe that the nation has had enough of enlightenment and awareness creation in snail farming. You can start grasscutter farming in Nigeria with this capital

Goodday sir. I am a corp member who is currently serving in Niger
state. I should be through with NYSC by september and am looking at
delving into agriculture immediately after that. However, i don't
really know where to start. I am saving seriously to this effect and
my savings should stand between 120-150k(its small i know) by the end
of my service year. So sir,i'd like you to advice me on which part of
agriculture i should start off with first, considering my startup
capital(cos i have dreams of becoming an agro allied mogul in the near
future) . Thanks

Export of snails from Nigeria

The universal practice in the snail export business is to prepare and pack the meat neatly before shipping Mature snails are dipped in hot water and boiled for 20 to 30 minutes. Thereafter the edible part is disengaged from the shell, washed severally with vinegar, lime and salt water and packed in a polythene bag weighing 4 to 8kg, or canned. The consignment is frozen to keep it fresh for export. Snail demand continues to be higher than supply on the market, providing a fillip for both existing and new investors.
